Budgeting

We all know budgeting can be hard especially as a student trying to balance everything alongside studies. Here are some of our tips to make budgeting easier.

Shopping

Finding alternatives and shopping around is a good way to make sure you’re getting the most for your money. Always look out for things on offer or on sale in the reduced section. Shopping for and preparing bulk meals can work out cheaper than singular meals. Shops such as Aldi can really cut down the cost of food shops.

Social

It is important to make time to relax and see friends as well as study. This doesn’t always mean you need to spend heaps of money. There are many activities you can do for free. You can have a picnic in one of the local parks, you can find places on our perfect picnic blog. It is also a good idea to look out for any student discounts and offers.

Rent and banking

Making sure you have enough money in your account to pay rent is super important. This can be hard with different loan payment dates and various outgoings. This is where online banking can be really handy. You can organize your outgoings and set budgets for each category. Setting yourself budgets and keeping to them means you will be able to manage your money better. We allow our tenants to set up a standing order for the dates they will receive their loan so they can avoid late payments.

Student Account

Some banks offer student accounts where there are different benefits such as rail cards and overdrafts. It is a good idea to look into these and open an account if it would benefit you.
